  • The academic discipline deals with the processes of communication behavior, and investigates these processes through a variety of of methods, such as archival work, critical analysis, and/or empirical methods that draw on qualitative and quantitative data. 
  • It is a broad academic field that investigates interpersonal, cultural, institutional, political, and social patterns of communication.
  • Communication Studies is influenced by fields such as economics, cultural studies, philosophy, anthropology, media studies, and more.
  • Different areas of study within Communication Studies include Intercultural Communication, Health Communication, Interpersonal Communication, Public Speaking, Environmental Communication, Mass Media, and more.
  • The field of Communication Studies examines how meaning is created, how messages are received and interpreted, and how personal, social, cultural, and political relationships are developed through messages.

  • Select from an agency-backed Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree (non-transfer) or an Associate of Arts and Science Direct Transfer Agreement (AA&S – DTA) degree

  • Prepares students to work with children ages birth to eight as childcare providers, preschool teachers, assistant teachers, para educators or child care administrators
