World Languages

The World Languages department at Big Bend Community College seek to prepare students for engagement with the wider world through the skill and art of communicating in a foreign language.  Students have the option of enrolling in up to three quarter of a single foreign language. 

Languages Offered

Some foreign languages are offered on a bi-annual basis (alternating every other year).  You may enroll in levels I, II or III any quarter that the language is offered.

  • French – offered during even numbered years
    • Fall 2018 – Spring 2019 and Fall 2020 – Spring 2021
    • FRCH& 121, 122 and 123
  • German – offered during odd numbered years
    • Fall 2017 – Spring 2018 and Fall 2019 – Spring 2020
    • GERM& 121, 122 and 123
  • Spanish – offered every year
    • SPAN& 121, 122 and 123

Spanish Native Speakers

Students that are native/heritage speakers should contact the department chair, Angela Leavitt, about advanced placement or credit by examination.
