MOSES LAKE — The Big Bend Community College Writing Center has moved online for the entire spring quarter ensuring students still have a place to go for one-on-one help with essays, research papers and other writing assignments.
The online writing center will use Zoom, a remote video conferencing service, to connect students to a tutor on a first-come, first-serve basis. Zoom can be used on a computer, tablet or smartphone. Downloading Zoom software is free of charge.
Visiting the writing center virtually will be much like visiting the writing center in person. Students can bring writing assignments from any of their classes to be reviewed. Tutors are available to help with essay development and organization, grammar and punctuation, and MLA, APA and CMS citations.
Students can also ask for specific feedback on their drafts.
Live help from the online writing center is available Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. However, students will still be able to use the page to request help with their writing assignments after hours.
As the quarter progresses, students should remember to plan ahead during midterms and finals, as wait times typically increase during those times.
For more information, or to request help from a writing tutor, visit the online writing center webpage.
