MOSES LAKE — The William C. Bonaudi Library has a new, creative way for students to learn about library resources in the form of a digital Escape Room experience.
The game was developed by library staff John Anderson and Cassandra Torres, who wanted to orient students to the library and show them how they could use library resources, such as databases and online live chat, remotely to help them with their classes this quarter.
“We wanted something fun, yet informative, that listed the services the library has to offer and how to access them,” said Torres. “My favorite part is how we were able to incorporate not just the library, but the Career Center and Writing Center. Those are important parts of the library that students may not necessarily know about.”
The online Escape Room starts with players waking up in one of the library’s study rooms and realizing they have only 15 minutes to complete their assignment before the library closes for the night. Players then have to navigate the library and decide which resources will help them in order to finish their research paper and escape from the library in time.
In addition to information about library resources, the game also includes some fun library trivia.
