MOSES LAKE — Big Bend Community College TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) has moved its application process online, making it easier for eligible students to connect with the program and access services.
TRIO staff have been supporting students remotely this quarter, assisting with financial aid completion and verification, summer/fall course selection, four-year transfer planning and online tutoring via phone, email, and Zoom video conferencing meetings. The new online application is just another way staff can provide virtual assistance to students.
The program currently has room for about a dozen additional participants for Spring quarter.
The TRIO SSS program at Big Bend has been on campus for more than 30 years. The goal of the program is to help motivate students to attain their educational goals, graduate and/or transfer to an institute of higher education.
TRIO advisors provide academic advising, transfer support and personal development for students who are from low-income backgrounds and who are often first-generation college students. The program also supports students with disabilities.
“TRIO SSS is a team who is committed to their participants’ academic success,” said TRIO SSS Director Veronica Guadarrama. “Students who join benefit because they have a support system who will assist them and encourage them to aspire to achieve their goals and successfully complete their degree program.”
The program serves up to 190 eligible students each academic year.
For more information, visit the TRIO SSS program webpage or apply to the program using the TRIO SSS online application. Students will need to have their BBCC Student ID number to complete the application.
