There’s a new registrar in town

Ruth Coffin new Registrar

Ruth Coffin has been appointed Registrar for Big Bend Community College.

Coffin previously served as BBCC’s Credentials Evaluator. This position fulfills some of the duties of Associate Vice President Candy Lacher, who retired June 30.

“Ruth has the proven long-term history, expertise, and passion that adds value to students’ experience at BBCC,” said Terry Leas, BBCC President.

The registrar provides a critical college function as the supervisor of the admissions and registration office, through which every student enters to attend classes. Coffin said she is inspired by “brand new-to-college students who leave BBCC with a degree or certificate ready to live their dreams” of a better job or attend a four-year university.

Coffin has a bachelor’s of science degree from The Evergreen State College. She has worked at BBCC for 10 years.
