Physics

Physics is the study of nature at its most fundamental level. It is the science upon whose principles all other sciences and technologies are based. At BBCC, we can offer you a challenging, quality education with small classes and well-qualified instructors. Within this site you can find information on BBCC physics and astronomy classes, and transfer degree programs.

If you would like to learn more about reasons to study physics, you might check out the American Physical Society website here:

Why Study Physics?

You can also learn about a good deal about careers in physics at this web site:

Science Careers: Physicist

Here at BBCC you can take physics and astronomy courses to fulfill the science requirements for your Associate in Arts and Science Degree, or you can take classes that will get you a long way toward reaching your goal of a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, mathematics, physics, engineering, computer science, and related physics fields. (If a bachelor’s degree in those fields is your goal, you may find the Associate in Science degree to be appropriate. A link with information on this degree is in the window to the left.) If you want to take a physics or astronomy course just because you have an interest in one of those areas, you might find our Physics for Non-Science Majors course or our Introduction to Astronomy course of interest.

Since programs differ at each college, students who intend to transfer should consult program outlines published by the college or university.  Links to the left (Majoring in Physics or Majoring in Astronomy) show courses which might be taken by students in those fields; other fields of study may be similar.  Students should prepare their quarterly schedules with the assistance of an advisor knowledgeable in their transfer area.
