Residence Hall Check-Out Procedures
Is it time to go already? Thank you for staying in our Residence Halls. Please follow the following procedures when you are ready to check out.
Move-Out Dates
Students are expected to check out 24 hours after their last final, not to exceed past June 14th at 2 pm.
**Students attending or participating in graduation should notify their RA for an extension**
NOTE: It is important that you follow all the steps above in order to avoid an improper checkout fee.

Students wishing to check out after the end of the academic quarter must seek approval from the Director of Residence Halls and Residence Life a week in advance. Students will be charged a daily prorated amount for each day after the end of the academic quarter. Students might be asked to relocate depending on the duration of the late departure.
Providing notice to the United States Postal Service:
Mail forwarding is the responsibility of the resident to ensure that their address is accurate with the post office prior to checking out. Please also update your new address on ResLife Portal prior to check-out. Hall staff may also require departing residents to fill out a separate mail forwarding form. Mail is forwarded for thirty (30) days past check-out. After thirty days, mail is returned to the sender.
We do not offer storage for your belongings. You may not leave anything in your room beyond check-out. If you are vacating and need to store your items, consider a private storage company. To help defray the cost, some residents elect to share a storage unit in the neighboring towns.
If a resident’s room/space is empty of possessions but keys have not been returned, the resident’s room/space may be presumed abandoned. ResLife will attempt to contact the resident and after three days of no contact, the space will be reassigned.
If you abandon your room, you will be charged for a lock change and key replacement, moving, handling and storage of your belongings, and applicable cleaning or repair charges, in addition to any room payment owed.
Any student property that is left behind beyond the residency contract dates is subject to being considered abandoned by the student.
The college will make a reasonable good-faith effort to reach out to the student, should the property (excluding trash) be left behind beyond the student’s residency to make arrangements for the student to secure any property left behind.
The college cannot, under any circumstances provide storage space or assurance of protection for the property. Should a student abandon property in the residence halls, a notice will be sent to the student and the student will be responsible for any care or removal costs of their property. If a student fails to respond to a notice about the abandoned property, the college reserves the right to dispose of personal property and may charge the student for any costs associated with abandoned property disposal

Upon receiving a rental reference, ResLife staff will disclose the information requested, typically the dates that you lived on campus, whether or not your account was paid on time and is current if you vacated properly, and if you are eligible to live with us again.
