Three Lady Vikings earn Academic Excellence honor from NWAC

MOSES LAKE — The Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) released its list of student-athletes that earned Academic Excellence honors for the fall 2017 quarter this week and three Big Bend Community College sophomores were among those recognized.

Sophomores Savannah Bass (The Dalles, OR), Laurissa Kisler (Warden, WA), and Madison Powers (Boulder, MT) each earned the honor posting GPAs above 3.25 or above.

“This really fits the bill for the type of character that these young ladies have. They are amazing people, they are amazing teammates, and they have a team-first attitude,” said Lady Vikings Head Coach Mike DeHoog. “I believe there is a strong correlation between success in the classroom and success in life and each of these student-athletes exemplify that. I am very proud of each of them.”

The honor follows the recent recognition of the entire Big Bend Athletic Department that earned the NWAC’s highest overall academic award for 2016-17 – The Presidents Cup – for the third time in its five-year existence.
