Big Bend’s Unmanned Systems Programs Earn Accreditation

MOSES LAKE – Big Bend Community College has received accreditation to offer an Associate of Applied Science degree in Unmanned Aerial Systems Technical Management.

The college has offered drone classes since 2016 but starting in January, Big Bend will add the new associate’s degree as well as a Certificate of Achievement program in Mechatronics, which includes engineering, computer science, robotics and flight training.

Program Director Pat Ford said it took about two years to develop the program since the college received a $2.6 million federal grant in 2015. Big Bend was notified last week the program was granted accreditation by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities.
