BBCC Learning Center Childcare Gains Quality Rating

The Learning Center Childcare at Big Bend Community College has earned the Quality Level of Excellence from the state Department of Early Learning (DEL).

The rating, received in early July, comes after two years of professional development and working with DEL coaches to meet 37 standards of quality for childcare centers, according to Angela Weber, Director of BBCC’s Learning Center Childcare.

Only a small number of sites in the state have achieved this level of quality on their first review, Weber said.

Early Achievers, the state’s voluntary quality rating and improvement system for child care professionals, provides coaching and professional development for providing quality care and education for young children.

Early Achievers rates the quality of child care and education programs. Providers can move up the rating scale by completing milestones and gaining points through an evaluation.
