100-plus exhibitors expected at 2020 BBCC Job and Career Fair

2020 Job Fair

MOSES LAKE — More than 100 employers are expected to attend the 2020 Job and Career Fair scheduled for Thursday, March 5 on the Big Bend Community College campus. The annual job fair, which is in its 27th year, is the largest local event that places potential employees and employers under one roof.

The Job and Career Fair is coordinated each year by BBCC, SkillSource, Employment Security Department, the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation, Job Corps and OIC of Washington.

The annual gathering will be held at the Masto Conference Center, inside the college’s ATEC Building, beginning at 9 a.m. and will continue until 2 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.

Employers at the event will represent a variety of industries including manufacturing, food processing, retail, service industries, health care, aerospace, education and technology. BBCC programs that provide training for these jobs will be onsite as well.

Several area resource agencies will also be in attendance this year.

“This is our 27th year. The event has continued to grow in the number of businesses participating and job seekers attending,” said BBCC Career Services Coordinator Jody Bortz. “Our reputation now draws out-of-state and prominent employers to the event and between 1,000-1,500 job seekers.”

Bortz added that a few employers will be attending this year for the first time.

“New employers are coming this year, which provides a new and varied opportunity to see what careers our community has to offer,” said Bortz. “We expect more than 100 employers to be represented this year, with some interviewing and hiring on the spot.”

This year, job seekers will also have an opportunity to attend a LinkedIn workshop and take an updated headshot while at the Job and Career Fair.

Big Bend and WorkSource partners will be providing resume and job preparation workshops Feb. 24 through Feb. 28 for those who are planning to attend the Job and Career Fair. Anyone wanting to take advantage of this help should contact Big Bend Career Services at 509-793-2068 or WorkSource at 509-766-2559.

For a complete list of employers and exhibitors registered to attend, check out the event online on the Big Bend Facebook page HERE or on the BBCC website HERE! The list of confirmed employers will be updated weekly.

Employer and exhibitor registration is open until Feb. 21.

All participating vendors in the Big Bend Job & Career Fair March 5, 2020 will be on campus for employment purposes only. This is a community-wide event for ALL Big Bend students and members of the community.

Although some participating vendors represent legal immigration enforcement agencies, this event should be considered secure for DREAMEers, DACA recipients, and students and members of the community whose immigration status is undocumented. BBCC supports the equity and inclusion of all its students and community members.
