Summer Housing

Whether you are taking classes, working on campus, or will be here over the summer, apply to live on-campus for Summer Housing. Stay in the residence halls during the summer and experience a relaxed, sunny campus lifestyle! You’ll have easy access to libraries and other campus services and amenities.

You’ll be able to enjoy fresh, local, organic food at the Moses Lake Farmers Market, cool off at Surf ‘n Slide Water Park, attend Freedom Fest, and you’ll live as close as you can get to your classes. Plus, contrary to living off campus, there are no long-term lease constraints.

Visit the City of Moses Lake Parks and Recreation website for more summer activities!

All students will be housed in Viking Hall (6000). Viking Hall is  Co-Ed by room, hosts our Gender Inclusive Housing (GIH), has air conditioning, and friendly staff able to help you during the summer.

To be eligible to stay during summer you must meet one of the following:

  • Must be enrolled in at least 10 credits
  • Working an on-campus job
  • Completing an internship in the local area for college credit.
  • A recipient of the Supporting Student Experiencing Homelessness (SSEH) grant

If you have questions please feel free to contact us via email at residencehalls@bigbend.edu or call (509) 793-2291.

Check-In/Check-Out Information

All new students will be able to move into their summer rooms the Sunday prior to the beginning of the term they are taking classes. All students are required to check out within 24 hours after their last class unless they are remaining for additional classes or are living on campus in the fall term.

Check-in will be at 10 a.m. on the date of your approved summer housing check-in. See Options

Check-out will be 12 noon on the date of your approved summer housing check-out.

Any summer resident that is not enrolled in summer session courses beyond August 12 and will not be a Fall 2023 resident must move out by noon on Saturday, August 12 by noon.

Terminating Your Contract

To cancel without incurring a termination fee, you must notify the Residence Halls Office in writing at least 14 calendar days before your scheduled move-in date.

Terminating your contract with 13 to 1 days’ notice prior to check in, may result in a cancellation fee of a 3-night minimum (at the double room rate of $45 USD).

In the event that the college needs to cancel your contract, you will be given at least three days’ (72 hours) notice. The termination notice will contain the reasons and date of termination. If you feel the termination is not appropriate, you may contest the decision. You must cease residing in the Residence Halls and remove all property on or before the termination date or be subject to additional fees. More information in the ResHall Handbook.

Student Storage

Big Bend Community College does not offer storage for your belongings over the summer. You may not leave anything in your room beyond check-out, even if you are returning to the same room next fall. To help defray the cost, some residents elect to share a storage unit in the neighboring towns.

Employment Opportunities

Over the summer, the Residence Halls and Residential Life will have one on-campus position that students are able to apply for! Be on the lookout on schooljobs for the Summer Resident Advisor (SRA) opportunities if you are interested. Want to learn more?
