MOSES LAKE — Farm and agriculture safety lessons for children will be the focus of Progressive (Insurance) Agriculture Safety Day, coming to Big Bend Community College April 27. The event is sponsored by Tom Cobb, an American Family Insurance agent in Moses Lake. It’s the first and only Ag Safety Day in eastern Washington.

Ag Safety Day is targeted at children four to 13 years of age. Two three-hour sessions are scheduled, at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Participants will learn about safety around farm equipment, chemical, fire and electrical safety, first aid and other topics, said BBCC communications coordinator Tiffany Sukola.

The foundation sponsored by Progressive Insurance has been hosting Ag Safety Day for more than 20 years. For 2019 more than 400 are planned in the U.S., Canada, and U.S. territories.
