Paralympian, National Champion to Speak at Big Bend

MOSES LAKE — A Paralympian and national champion will speak at Big Bend Community College next week.

Motivational speaker Jeff Griffin will be on campus Tuesday, Oct. 15, for Disability Awareness Month. Griffin’s keynote address is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon in the Masto Conference Center “where he will share his life-altering experiences and transformational message.”

Griffin is the author of “I’Mpossible: Desire. Dream. Do.” More, Griffin competed in the 2004 Paralympic Games in Athens, Greece where he collected a silver medal for the USA’s wheelchair basketball team. He also won a national championship for the Utah Wheelin’ Jazz and is a four-time All-Star MVP.

In addition to his accolades on the hardwood, Griffin was the No. 1 men’s wheelchair tennis player in Utah and won the St. George Marathon. Griffin also holds two Guinness world records; one for most consecutive basketball free throws made from a wheelchair and most free throws made in one minute from a wheelchair.

Griffin’s address is free and open to the public.
