How Did Big Bend Get its Name?

Big Bend Community College gets its name from the big bend of the Columbia River in Central Washington that starts at Grand Coulee Dam, goes west to Wenatchee, and loops south to the Tri Cities….  The area inside this bend of the mighty river was called Big Bend Country by pioneers.
