Big Bend Community College sophomore Maryah Tipping made her way from Ogden, UT two years ago to play basketball for Lady Vikings Head Coach Preston Wilks. This fall, she will be traveling Portland, OR to continue her basketball career in the NAIA’s Cascade Collegiate Conference for Warner Pacific College.
The 6-foot-1 inch sophomore scored 203 points this season for BBCC, pulled down 173 rebounds (106 defensive), and picked up 20 blocks. Tipping also was among the NWAC leaders in field goal percentage shooting 50.3 percent from the field on the season.
“We are very excited about Maryah choosing Warner Pacific College to continue her playing career,” said Head Women’s Basketball Coach Preston Wilks. “When she visited Warner, she already had several offers to choose from, but after her visit she felt like Warner was the right place.
“(Warner Head Women’s Coach Matt Gregg) played inside during his college career and is looking forward to continue developing Maryah’s game. We believe she will have a successful career at Warner.”
Tipping finished her career for the Lady Vikings scoring a total of 311 points and pulling down 321 rebounds, with 41 blocked shots.
