Big Bend student-athletes deliver 500 new books to North Elementary School

Big Bend Community College student-athletes stopped by North Elementary School Friday with a delivery of 500 new books.

A group of Vikings men’s and women’s basketball players, as well as a couple baseball players, visited the Moses Lake school as part of the Disney “Magic of Storytelling” program.

The college partnered with KXLY, ABC, Disney and First Book to sponsor the giveaway, which was also held May 19 at Larson Heights Elementary School.

The Vikings players took a few minutes to visit with the students during lunch, even signing a few autographs before helping students pick out a book to take home.

School staff at both North and Larson Heights elementary were notified beforehand of the book distribution and were allowed to choose the 500 books for the students.
