BBCC Student named to All-WA team and earns Coca-Cola Scholarship

Moses Lake – Big Bend Community College running start student Clair Gilbert was selected for the All-Washington Academic Team and ranked in the Top 16 in the state. In addition she also earned the Coca-Cola Academic Team Gold Scholarship. Both of which recognize academic high achievers; individuals who have demonstrated a commitment to success in the classroom and in the communities in which they live.

“I am so honored to be receiving these recognitions,” said Gilbert. “It is inspiring to know that dedication and hard work pays off and creates opportunities essential for me to be able to reach my goal of earning a bachelor’s degree in Engineering.”

Claire intends to transfer to Brigham Young University to pursue a Bachelor’s in Engineering after earning her high school diploma and Associate in Arts and Sciences this spring. She is excited to get a degree in engineering because she loves to figure out how things work.

She was ranked in the Top 16 out of 84 total students receiving the All-Washington recognition. The annual All-Washington recognition program is sponsored by Phi Theta Kappa—the honor society for two-year colleges. Other sponsors include the Washington Association of Community and Technical Colleges, the Washington State Association of College Trustees, and the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges.

In addition, Claire has been named a 2025 Coca-Cola Academic Team Gold Scholar and will receive a $1,500 scholarship. The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation sponsors the Coca-Cola Academic Team program by recognizing 50 Gold, 50 Silver, and 50 Bronze Scholars annually.

I’m excited for this next chapter in my life and I’m so grateful for everything I’ve learned here at Big Bend,” said Gilbert.
