MOSES LAKE — Washington Governor Jay Inslee has confirmed that Rosendo Alvarado has been appointed to the Big Bend Community College Board of Trustees. Alvarado replaces former Trustee Juanita Richardson who served on the board since 2014.
“I’m humbled to be nominated and accepted to the BBCC board of trustees,” Alvarado said. “It’s a great opportunity to be involved in providing opportunities for all individuals. There is a lot of opportunity in the Columbia Basin and I am looking forward to being part of the team at BBCC.”
Alvarado is the Plant Manager for Sila Nanotechnologies Inc. and a native of Moses Lake. Before transitioning into his current role, he was Head of Operations at Sila and before that, he spent 26 years in various roles for REC Silicon.
In his role, Alvarado oversees all aspects of Sila’s new Moses Lake facility from staffing and commissioning to orchestrating operations and engineering support. He is uniquely positioned for this new appointment at Big Bend as the college is working with a variety of high-tech manufacturers to meet their rapidly growing need for a highly trained workforce.
“BBCC has really great programs and I’m hoping to complement them with my experience in workforce development,” Alvarado added. “It’s an exciting partnership to build upon and provide opportunities to the Columbia Basin.”
Alvarado will participate in his first meeting Dec. 12th.
