Fire fighters at training

MOSES LAKE- Big Bend Community College’s Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting (ARFF) Spring Training has just wrapped up.

Twenty-one students participated in the five-day course, representing the U.S. Coast Guard, the City of Everett and the Pasco and Douglas County Fire Departments. Agencies throughout the Northwest and Canada have contracted with BBCC to provide this training for more than 40 years.

ARFF training combines classroom instruction and live fire drills. Students learn hose handling, handline and truck tactics and use diesel fuel, AFFF Foam and Dry Chem for a truly realistic experience.

The program is a partnership between Big Bend. the Port of Moses Lake and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). So far this year, the program has helped 119 trainees gain certification.
