Tips

  • If you decide to participate in both the flight and maintenance programs, we recommend completing general and airframe during the first year, powerplant and flight school during the second year.
  • Ask about career placement before starting the program. some employers will pay for your schooling.
  • Military aviation experience can accelerate students through the program.
  • Tools are not required until the second quarter of the program. Tool discounts and benefits are available to students.

Program Modality

On campus, daytime only. Monday through Friday for your first quarter, Monday through Thursday for remaining quarters.

Length of Program

135 Credits = 6 Quarters* if you take 16-25 credits per quarter

*Your specific route may take longer than 6 quarters depending on the number of credits you take each quarter and where you start in your math and English pathways.

Career Outlook

The Aviation Maintenance Technology (AMT) program is designed to prepare students for FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) maintenance certification and for employment in aviation maintenance careers. This includes Aircraft Maintenance, Aircraft Manufacturing, Commercial Aircraft Maintenance, Fire Bomber Maintenance, and EMS Helicopter and Airplane Maintenance. Currently, Boeing, Aerotek, Greenpoint, Life Flight, Aeroflite, Delta, Alaska Airlines, and Horizon Airlines are recruiting with sign on bonuses.

Future Education Opportunities

Courses offer quality training to serious and motivated students through a structured competency-based curriculum provided by industry-experienced instructors. Instruction includes the basics of maintenance, servicing, inspection, repair, troubleshooting, and overhaul of aircraft airframes and powerplants. Students can become professional aviation maintenance technicians. This degree also prepares students to pursue a 4-year Aviation Maintenance Management degree to become a Director of Maintenance for large operations.
