The stigma associated with mental illness can have a devastating impact on individuals and their families. Big Bend President Dr. Sara Thompson Tweedy offers this video message about a recent tragedy on campus and the many resources available.

How to make a difference

  • Promote the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (handout wallet cards with information and post magnets with the phone number in easily recognized places)
  • Take a Mental Health First Aid course training
  • Learn more about suicide signs/symptoms
