Rights and Responsibilities for Students Receiving Financial Aid
You have the right to know:
- The cost of attendance used for determining eligibility for financial aid
- What financial aid programs are available
- What the procedures and deadlines are for applying for financial aid
- How your financial eligibility or need was determined
- What happens if you withdraw or stop attending all your classes
- If you received a loan, you have the right to know the interest rate, the repayment amount, when repayment begins and the length of time to repay
- How your attempted credits, your grades and completed credits, (satisfactory academic progress), affect your continued eligibility for financial aid
- You have the right to accept, decline or adjust your financial aid award
- If you received a work study award offer you may work up to 16 hours per week depending upon your need either on or off campus
- You may contact the financial aid office if you believe that special circumstances exist that affect your eligibility for aid
It is your responsibility to:
- Apply for financial aid every January
- Complete the FAFSA or WASFA accurately and submit it on time. Errors can delay the receipt of financial aid
- Provide all additional information or forms requested by the Financial Aid Office
- Make satisfactory academic progress, attend and pass your classes, in order to continue to be eligible for financial aid. Be ready to seek tutoring or other assistance to help you succeed in your classes.
- Complete the Exit Interview when you graduate, withdraw or enroll in 5 or fewer credits if you received a Ford Direct Loan or a Perkins loan.
- Repay all loans in accordance with the terms of your promissory note
- Notify your Direct Loan Servicer of any change in name, address, telephone, email or school status
- Notify the financial aid office if you change your enrollment status.
