Samaritan Healthcare’s Board of Commissioners held a special board meeting on Tuesday evening to interview candidates for the open board seat that was recently vacated by Julie Weisenburg. Weisenburg recently resigned and was hired as the organization’s Chief Human Resources Officer.Out of the two candidates that applied and interviewed for the position, the Commissioners approved the nomination of Katherine Christian to fill the 5th seat on the Grant County Public Hospital District #1 Board of Commissioners.
Christian is a Registered Nurse with over 40 years of clinical experience and currently serves as the Director of Health Education Programs at Big Bend Community College. Christian and her family moved to the Moses Lake in the early 1990s, and have remained committed to volunteering and giving back to the area they call home. She served on the Hospital’s Board of Commissioners in the past and has continued to serve on the District’s Safety & Quality Committee over the last 4 years.
“Having previously served on the Board of Commissioners for approximately 10 years, I believe that I am ready and able to commit to the hard work of the board and contribute to the healthcare needs of our community,” she said.
By accepting the nomination Christian will fulfill the remainder of former Commissioner Weisenberg’s term and will be up for re-election in 2019.
