Steps To VA Enrollment

REQUIRED STEPS:

  1. Apply for VA Education Benefits
    1. Visit www.va.gov to apply
    2. This application will generate your Certificate of Eligibility in 30 days
  2. Apply for Admissions at BBCC
    1. Visit https://www.bigbend.edu/i-am/newstudent/
    2. Complete online or paper application
    3. Once you receive your Acceptance Letter, follow the steps to sign up for New Student Registration
  3. Submit Prior Transcripts
    1. Send prior official transcripts, including Joint Service Transcripts to admissions. Contact kerrif@bigbend.edu if you have any questions.
  4. Submit BBCC Veteran Reporting Form
    1. Submit completed Reporting Form to Certifying Official at: veronicap@bigbend.edu
  5. Take Placement Tests
    1. Schedule an appointment for placement testing at 509-793-2064 ($20 fee)
    2. Or, show completion of college level Math & English classes from prior college.
  6. Register for Classes
    1. Attend New Student Registration to register for classes and to learn about BBCC resources

 

OPTIONAL STEPS:

  1. Apply for Additional Financial Aid
    1. Visit www.studentaid.gov for more information on grants, scholarships, and loans
  2. Connect with BBCC’s Vet Navigator
    1. Access a support network and additional veteran resources- contact Mike Garoutte at 509-793-2232
  3. Access Disability Support Services
    1. Call 509-793-2035 to schedule an appointment

FAQ’S


Q: How much is the monthly housing allowance?
A: For 100% eligible Post-9/11 GI B1H® recipients enrolled in at least 12 credits (w/ at least one residential class), the MHA is $1,380/month

Q: Will the VA pay for all of my classes?
A: The VA will only pay for the classes that are required for the completion of your degree
