Academic Standing
At BBCC, students are expected to make steady progress toward completing their degrees or certificates. Being in Good Standing means successfully completing classes each quarter and maintaining a cumulative GPA (grade point average) of 2.0 or higher.
Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
If you receive financial aid, the expectations are similar—both BBCC and the U.S. Department of Education require you to meet certain standards (Satisfactory Academic Progress) to keep your financial aid.
If you fall out of Good Standing and your progress doesn’t improve, you could:
- Lose your financial aid eligibility
- Be required to take time away from BBCC for up to one year
Each quarter, BBCC reviews every student’s academic progress. If you’re struggling—such as earning low or failing grades or withdrawing from too many classes—you may fall out of Good Standing.
Beginning after your first quarter classes at BBCC are graded, you can check your grades and status through ctcLink.
Academic Standing: Student Homepage > Academic Records > View Grades > Grade Details
Financial Aid SAP: Student Homepage > Financial AId > Aid Year > click on Satisfactory Academic Progress link
Remember, official grades are found in ctcLink. The information you see on Canvas is NOT your official grade.
Students who have fallen out of Good Standing or Satisfactory Academic Progress will receive notice via email.
