How to Apply
The application process for the BBCC TRIO Student Support Services program is as follows.
- Complete the online program application.
- Meet with TRIO SSS director in person or online for an intake meeting.
- Submit a signed income verification (affirming prior year’s taxable income).
- Meet with TRIO SSS advisor for degree planning.

The U.S. Department of Education specifies that TRIO SSS programs must collect taxable income from applicants (from the previous year) at the time of application to determine eligibility. Whose taxable income is required depends on whether an applicant is considered dependent or independent by financial aid standards.
An independent student meets one or more of the criteria below and can provide personal taxable income information for program eligibility purposes.
- at least 24 years old
- married
- graduate or professional student
- veteran or a member of the armed forces
- orphan or a ward of the court
- someone with legal dependents other than a spouse
- an emancipated minor
- someone who is homeless or at risk of becoming homeless
A dependent student is a student who does not meet any of the criteria for an independent student and must provide parent/guardian taxable income information for program eligibility purposes.
Click the button below to complete a short form to select your dependency status and enter the email address(es) of the individual(s) required to sign the program’s Income Verification Statement.
Once this form is submitted, an email will be sent from our office with a link to complete the appropriate Income Verification Statement. Once all signatures are completed each signer will recieve a copy of the form and it will automatically be submitted for processing.
