Applying for BBCC Scholarships

The Big Bend Community College 2019-20 online scholarship application IS CURRENTLY OPEN and will close on Feb. 25. 2019.  The online application process allows students to access the application from their computer, tablet, or smartphone. Current and future students can apply to all internal BBCC scholarships with a single application through our AwardSpring online system.

There are five (5) sections to the application: General Information, Qualification Questions, Transcripts, Recommendations, and Essay Questions. You will need to complete each section to submit your application. In addition to responding to questions and essays, a complete application will need an unofficial electronic transcript(s) and two recommendations. More details on how to complete these tasks can be found within the application. This application is for BBCC scholarships and does not include external scholarships.

Unofficial transcripts are required for ALL applicants. You must upload your most recent transcript(s) into the application (the AwardSpring platform accepts common file extensions). Check your file before you complete your application, any transcript files that cannot be viewed will receive a zero score.

Current BBCC Students can access their unofficial transcript through the student kiosk. Copy and paste the transcript data thoroughly into a Word document and upload the file. Current BBCC students should also upload their high school transcripts if they have only a few classes recorded on their BBCC transcripts.

High School students must upload a transcript that includes all coursework/grades at the time you apply. If your school uses Parchment (eTranscripts), we highly encourage you to request your transcripts early to avoid electronic delays.

Students with a GED, who have been homeschooled, or who have no transcripts, please provide proof of your GED completion. If you have no documentation, write a detailed letter explaining your circumstances for not having any documentation and upload the letter in place of the transcript.

For an application to be considered complete, two (2) completed recommendations are required. Recommendations requested via the application will generate an email to the recommender providing them instructions and a link to upload their recommendation directly into your application. We encourage you to double check the email information you enter, if the address is incorrect, you will not receive a notice.

You can ask up to four (4) people to complete a recommendation on your behalf.  These can be from a teacher, professor, counselor, school administrator, family friend, or employer. Recommendations from family members or letters dated before May 1, 2018, will not be accepted.

Please note that sending recommendation requests are NOT the same as having a completed recommendation. You are responsible for checking the status of your recommendations to make sure that your application is complete.

If you have questions regarding the application process or need assistance with the application, please contact Foundation staff for assistance at 509-793-2005.
