High School completion and GED recognition June 8 at Big Bend Community College

The high school completion and GED recognition ceremony set for June 8 is one of the most positive and emotional events held on campus each year.

The annual recognition ceremony for local people who have earned their High School Completion Diploma or GED certificate will be held in Wallenstein Theater at Big Bend Community College on June 8 starting at 7 p.m.

The ceremony honoring students who have earned a high school diploma (HS21 program) or GED Equivalency Certificate, is one of the most positive and emotional events held on campus each year. The students are from Othello, Quincy, Royal City, Warden, Moses Lake, Ephrata, and Soap Lake.

The college loans caps and gowns to the honorees, which makes for a more meaningful ceremony, good photographs, and memories.

The theater fills with family and friends who support the recipients in their decision to return to school and earn a high school diploma or GED. A highlight of the evening is an open microphone for high school diploma and GED recipients to tell their stories and thank their families.

If you are a student who earned a high school diploma (HS21+) or GED at BBCC since June of 2015 and are planning to attend the ceremony, contact Hope Gamez at 509-793-2301. Students should plan to arrive at the theater at 6 p.m. to get ready for the ceremony.
