Who Is Eligible?

In order to be eligible for financial aid all Big Bend Community College financial aid applicants must meet the following basic eligibility requirements:

  • Have a valid Social Security number
  • Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
  • If male, be registered with the Selective Service
  • Be admitted to BBCC as a regular student
  • Be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an eligible program
  • Have a high school diploma or GED certificate
  • Not  be currently enrolled in high school
  • Have no conviction for any drug offense involving possession or sale of a controlled substance while receiving federal financial aid
  • Do not owe Perkins loan or grant overpayment
  • Do not have a Title IV loan in default
  • Have not borrowed in excess of the loan limits
  • Are maintaining satisfactory academic progress
  • Not be receiving financial aid at another institution at the same time

For some types of financial aid the student must meet these program specific requirements:

  • Have financial needs calculated using the Federal Methodology
  • Enroll in the required number of credits
  • Satisfy the residency requirements
  • Do not exceed the funding limits per program
