Census Date

The Census Date is a snapshot of your enrollment for the quarter. It happens to coincide with the last date students add or drop classes. At this point of the term, credits are locked and financial aid for the term is adjusted to reflect the student’s official enrolled credits. Since your enrollment level (full-time, ¾ time, ½ time or less than halftime) determines your eligibility for the term, Census Date will determine your actual grant payment.

If the student received aid based on full-time enrollment and then dropped credits, financial aid or any other awards will be adjusted to match their enrollment based on the number of credits enrolled in as of the Census Date. Credits added after Census Date cannot be used to increase financial aid eligibility. If the student drops credits which consequently may drop their enrollment, funds may have to be returned to Big Bend Community College since the student may be considered to have been overpaid.

If the student drops credits after Census Date (as long as the student does not drop all credits). Student will not need to return any funds back to Big Bend Community College. However, student’s Satisfactory Academic Progress status will be affected by dropping credits.
