Dear International Student:
Thank you for your inquiry about Big Bend Community College (BBCC). BBCC welcomes applications for admission from international students who wish to pursue a quality educational experience in the United States. Below you will find important information about applying to BBCC.
You are required to have a minimum of $14,053.00 US dollars for one academic year (September to June). If you are admitted to the Commercial Pilot Program you will be required to have approximately an additional $12,000.00 for one academic year. We do not have financial aid available to first-year international students in the form of scholarships, grants or loans. Limited scholarships are available for returning second-year international students.
At least 60 days prior to the beginning of classes, you must submit the following documents in English to the BBCC Admissions Office:
- A completed State of Washington Community College Admission form.
- An official copy of your high school and/or college transcripts. (International students must complete high school before admittance to BBCC.)
- An official copy of your English test results:
- TOEFL minimum score of 48 (internet test - minimum of 12 on each section of the exam) or 450 (paper test), OR
- Completion of level 108 at an ELS Language Center, OR
- Minimum STEP/Eiken score of 2A, OR
- Minimum IELTS score of 4.
- A completed Declaration and Certification of Finances form.
After the above requirements have been met, we will request a non-refundable advance payment of tuition and fees in the amount of $80.00 US dollars. Please do not send the deposit until you are requested to do so. We will issue your I-20 after the above application requirements are met and your deposit is received in the Admissions Office. Tuition and fees are due after you register.
Once the I-20 is issued, you must apply for your student visa at the United States Embassy or Consulate closest to their home. Your passport, bank statement or sponsorship papers and proof of payment of the SEVIS fee (I-901) of $100.00 will be required. Students may go to the following website for more information regarding the SEVIS fee: www.ice.gov/sevis.
You must live in a Big Bend Community College dormitory during your first full academic quarter of attendance. You will also be required to participate in the food service program. When you arrive at BBCC, you will be given placement tests in mathematics and English. International students may enroll in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classes each term until they have reached the English level required for their major program.
