Child and Family Education
The Child and Family Education (CFE) program has several tracks and outcomes. Most classes are held in the late afternoons and evenings to allow individuals to work and to attend classes. The program is arranged as a “Career Ladder” program. Students can start with the Child Development Associate (CDA) classes (12 credits) and apply to the CDA Council for certification. These 12 credits apply toward the (50 credit) Certificate of Achievement in Early Childhood Education, the (90 credit) Associate in Applied Science degree, the Associate of Applied Science – T degree or the Associate in Arts and Science in Elementary Education DTA/MRP.
Integrated Basic Education and Skills Training (I-BEST)
Many of the CFE classes are taught in an integrated model known as I-BEST. What this means is that there are two instructors in the classroom at the same time – one to help with the professional-technical content and the other to help with English and Math skill development.
