ART 090 Pottery      0 credits

Experiments and design in clay applied to pottery and sculpture. Work in various hand construction methods and in pottery wheel, glazing and kiln firing.

 

ART& 100 Art Appretiation      5 credits
A survey of the visual arts designed to develop appreciation and understanding for daily living and for discussing architecture, painting, sculpture, and other arts.  Lectured, slides, movies, and experiments with art media.  Open to all students.

 

ART 101 Design I      5 credits
An introduction to the study of the elements and principles of art explored through various media in two dimensional problems.

 

ART 102 Design II      5 credits
An introduction to the study of color theory explored through projects.

 

ART 103 Design III      5 credits

An introduction to the study of three dimensional design explored through various media in sculpture.

 

ART 104 Drawing I      5 credits
An introduction to drawing based on observation emphaisizing composition and form.

 

ART105 Drawing II      5 credits
A continuation in the exploration of drawing with emphasis on technique and interpretation of ideas using various media.

 

ART 106 Drawing III      5 credits

An introduction to drawing from the figure using a live model.

 

ART 121, 122, 123 Ceramics I, II, III      2-5 credits

Experiments and design in clay applied to pottery and sculpture.  Work in various hand construction methods and on pottery wheel, glazing, and kiln firing. May be repeated up to three quarters. Course may be audited with instructor permission.

 

ART 198-298 Special Projects      1-5 credits
Prerequisite:  Instructor permission.
Special projects in art- individual projects by special arrangement with instructor.

 

ART 216 Survey of Western Art I: ANcient to Medieveal      5 credits

A survey of the history of western art and architecture from ancient times to the medieval age.

 

ART 217 Survey of Western Art II: Renaissance to Mid Nineteenth Century      5 credits

A survey of the history of western art and architecture from Renaissance times to the mid nineteenth century.

 

ART 218 Survey of Western Art III:  Impressionism to Art After 1945      5 credits

A survey of the history of western art and architecture from late nineteenth century to contemporary times.

 

ART 221, 222, 223 Watercolor I, II, III      1-5 credits
The study of watercolor painting; from still-life to nature.

 

ART 230 Painting/Drawing Workshop      2-5 credits
Prerequisite: None but studio class such as drawing or painting recommended.
A workshop class designed to allow experimentation with 2D media such as pencil, charcoal, pastels, watercolor, acrylic paint.

 

ART 231, 232, 233 Oil Painting I, II, III      5 credits
Introduction to the materials and techniques of oil painting.  Painting from still-life and nature as well as creative
composition.
