      Two Big Bend Community College students were honored by former Gov. Gary Locke as part of the All-Washington Academic Team Thursday, March 20.

Sara Fairbanks, 18, and Nedda-Jean Dayley, 28, both of Moses Lake, represented BBCC on the team. Both will graduate from BBCC in June.

The two were among 55 students from 31 Washington community and technical colleges honored at the event. The event was held at South Puget Sound Community College in Olympia.

Fairbanks has a 4.0 GPA. She is a Running Start student currently attending both BBCC and Moses Lake High School. In the fall, she plans to transfer to Brigham Young University and major in education.

Dayley is a 1998 Quincy High School graduate. She has a 3.93 GPA and plans to become a registered nurse.

The event is sponsored by the Phi Theta Kappa, the national honor society of two-year colleges.
