BBCC Art Building to Open Fall Quarter

MOSES LAKE – Construction of the new fine arts instruction building on the Big Bend Community College campus is on track and on time, said BBCC Vice President Ken Turner.

The new $3.3 million fine arts facility is located south of the Administration/Student Services Building near Wallenstien Theater. Construction is scheduled to be completed in June, with the building open for faculty and students when fall 2008 classes begin.

It replaces a temporary art building, with new drawing, painting and pottery labs and includes at least two new classrooms and an open lobby which could be used for student art displays.  One of the new classrooms will be equipped to hold interactive television classes, the other is planned to be a graphics art lab equipped with Macintosh computers.

“We are still looking for creative ways to finish the building interior and fund new furniture, carpeting and landscaping,” said Turner. “We have some support pledges from the community to help finish the project, however we are still seeking community involvement to finish the job.”
