Coach DeMiero is entering his first season at the Viking helm. Prior to his arrival at Big Bend Coach DeMiero spent the previous three seasons successfully resurrecting the Raider Softball program at Pierce College in Lakewood, WA. After inheriting a program at Pierce that had struggled to just one lone win over the course of three prior seasons, DeMiero guided the Raiders to eight wins in 2005. The 2005 season also saw the Raider Softball team gain it's first All League nominations in ten years, having two players earn All NWAACC honors.
In 2006 DeMiero ushered in perhaps the largest recruiting class in Pierce College Softball history, and kicked off the 2006 campaign with a sense of urgency. Under DeMiero's guidance the 2006 Raider team battled through injury on way to a 23-7 league record capturing 2nd place in the NWAACC's Western Division, while enjoying the Raider's first trip to the NWAACC Championship Tournament in over ten years. The 2006 Raider Team proved itself to be a standard bearer for teams to come while essentially re-writing the entire Pierce College softball record book. In 2006, DeMiero's Raider team belted a school record 57 Homeruns, scored a school record 422 runs, and hit their way to an overall team Batting Average of nearly .400. The 2006 Raider team also raked in post season accolades, having a Pierce College record 7 players earn All NWAACC honors including the reigning NWAACC Western Division MVP.
In 2007 Coach DeMiero took the Raider program to the next level capturing the first Softball Division Championship at Pierce College in 25 years, and was named NWAACC Western Region Coach of the Year. Coach DeMiero's 2007 squad picked up where the 2006 team left off re-writing nearly the entire Pierce College softball record book on it's way to becoming the winningest team in school history with it's 36-15 record. The 2007 squad had a school record 10 players named to the All NWAACC teams including the Western Region Pitcher of the Year, Western Region MVP, and the first All American athlete in Pierce College history.
Prior to his arrival at Pierce, DeMiero served as both an umpire and umpire instructor for nearly ten years working a variety of levels including High School, Babe Ruth, and American Legion Baseball. DeMiero also spent several years coaching Baseball at that same high school age group for a variety of leagues. DeMiero grew up with the sport of Fastpitch softball enjoying the game with his family while covering both Men's and Women's Fastpitch. DeMiero's own playing experience dates back more than ten years and includes the 2000 NAFA World Series. Prior to arriving at Pierce College, Coach DeMiero served at South Puget Sound CC in Olympia, Wa and Wartburg College in Waverly, IA. Coach DeMiero is a graduate of The Evergreen State College.
