Internships will run for approximately 10 weeks during the summer, and will be performed at one of the DOE national laboratories. Interns will complete research projects aligned with ongoing DOE efforts. Students will also be involved in enrichment activities provided by the host laboratory. Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
  • Certification as Engineer-in-Training (passed Fundamental of Engineering Exam)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good time management, organization, and attention to detail
  • Ability to lift and move up to 70 pounds
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong work ethic and accountability required
  • Experience with a computer aided drafting program (such as Auto CAD) is preferred
  • Ability to complete a variety of assignment such as the development of drawings, specification, and technical memoranda that present the basis of design
  • Strong technical writing and analytical skills
  • Working knowledge of building codes, design manuals, and construction practices preferred
