Big Bend Community College Trio

TRIO-SSS Upward Bound is a federally funded program that helps motivate and support high school students from disadvantaged backgrounds in their pursuit of a college degree by offering comprehensive year-round academic and personal assistance.  Students receive tutoring assistance to help them improve their academic skills and prepare for college.  Assistance is provided for students and their parents in completing college applications, financial aid forms and scholarship applications.  Since 1967, Big Bend’s Upward Bound Program, located in Moses Lake, Washington, has helped students prepare themselves for a successful college experience after their high school graduation.

Personal advising
Monthly Saturday activities

Summer School Services include

Skill development
College preparatory instruction
High school graduation credit opportunities
College campus residential experience
Educational and cultural field trips
Challenging and supportive study environment

Bridge Program Services

(Summer quarter following high school graduation)  
Tuition, books and fees paid for by program
Room and board paid for by Upward Bound
Work study positions to earn additiional money (upon available funding)                                     
The Upward Bound Program is funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education.  The annual award is $447,395 which covers 100% of the total cost of the program.
