Associates in Applied Science Degree

Medical Assistant

The student who successfully completes the required classes totaling ninety credits will be eligible to earn the Associates in Applied Science Degree for Medical Assistant.  Successful completion of the certificate program option allows the student to enter the workforce under delegator as Medical Assistant-Certified.

After successfully obtaining the BBCC AA-S Degree for MA, students will be able to continue the prerequisites for BBCC Nursing Program with assistances from a nursing advisor and possible additional classes per nursing requirements.

The Certificate of Achievement for Medical Assisting as well as the Associates in Applied Science Degree in Medical Assisting is approved for meeting the requirements for certification as a Health Care Assistant, Categories A, C, and E.

Graduates successfully completing the Medical Assisting program at Big Bend Community College are immediately eligible to sit for the national exam for certification as Registered Medical Assistants (RMA) with American Medical Technologists.
