Anthropology Anthropology (ANTH)

  • The study of human societies, cultures and their development often through historic remains including architecture, art, documents, language, tools and other artifacts
  • Students interested in earning a degree in Anthropology will need to transfer to a university
  • May be taken to satisfy a requirement of the Associate of Arts & Science with Direct Transfer Agreement (AA&S-DTA) degree including Social Sciences, Breadth, Specified or General Elective

Art

Art (ART)

  • Select from courses in art appreciation, art history, drawing, painting, ceramics or design
  • Some courses may be taken as variable credit (1-5 credits)
  • Students interested in earning a degree in Art will need to transfer to a university
  • Multiple courses may be taken to satisfy various areas of the Associate of Arts & Science with Direct Transfer Agreement (AA&S-DTA) degree including Humanities, Breadth, Specified or General Electives

Criminal JusticeCriminal Justice (CJ)

  • Prepares students for careers in corrections, law enforcement and criminal investigation
  • Many evening and online courses available
  • Select from an agency-backed Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree (non-transfer) or an Associate of Arts and Science Direct Transfer Agreement (AA&S – DTA) degree
  • Multiple courses may be taken to satisfy various requirements of the AA&S-DTA degree including Social Sciences, Breadth, Specified Electives and General Electives

Early Childhood EducationEarly Childhood Education (ECE)

  • Prepares students to work with children ages birth to eight as childcare providers, preschool teachers, assistant teachers, para educators or child care administrators
  • Career settings include Head Start programs, preschool programs, public school programs, childcare centers, family homes, and ECE Assistance Program
  • Offers Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degrees with the option to transfer to select universities including Eastern Washington University, Washington State University and Heritage University

EconomicsEconomics (ECON)

  • Engage in the study of how societies use scarce resources to produce valuable commodities and distribute them 
  • Micro and Macro economics required for most Business transfer students
  • Students interested in earning a degree in Economics will need to transfer to a university
  • Multiple courses may be taken to satisfy various requirements of the Associate of Arts & Science with Direct Transfer Agreement (AA&S-DTA) degree including Social Sciences, Breadth, Specified or General Electives

EnglishEnglish (ENGL)

  • Students may engage in wide variety of composition, technical writing, creative writing and literature courses
  • Students interested in earning a degree in English will need to transfer to a university
  • Multiple courses may be taken to satisfy various requirements of the Associate of Arts & Science with Direct Transfer Agreement (AA&S-DTA) degree including the Communication, Humanities, Breadth, Specified or General Electives

Foreign LanguagesForeign Languages (FRCH, GERM, SPAN)

  • Provides students an opportunity engage the world through a new lens that diversifies their linguistic skills as well as their cultural competency
  • Students interested in earning a degree in any Foreign Language will need to transfer to a university
  • Some credit available by examination or advanced placement (see department chair for more info)
  • Courses may be taken to satisfy various requirements of the Associate of Arts & Science with Direct Transfer Agreement (AA&S-DTA) degree including the Humanities, Breadth, Specified Electives or General Electives

HistoryHistory (HIST)

  • Explore the rich history of the United States, world or western civilizations, women in US history, Native American History, the history of Mexico and various European histories
  • Students interested in earning a degree in History will need to transfer to a university
  • Multiple courses may be taken to satisfy various requirements of the Associate of Arts & Science with Direct Transfer Agreement (AA&S-DTA) degree including Social Sciences, Breadth, Specified or General Electives

Homeland Security and Emergency ManagementHomeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM)

  • Prepares students for careers as emergency management managers and policy leaders, and to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to improve outcomes in a wide range of disaster situations
  • Most courses are offered online or in partnership with other state colleges
  • Offers an Associate of Applied Science Transfer (AAS-T) degree as well as a Certificate of Accomplishment

MusicMusic (MUSC)

  • Select from courses in music appreciation, music history or performance (piano, guitar, mariachi)
  • Students interested in earning a degree in Music will need to transfer to a university
  • Multiple courses may be taken to satisfy various areas of the Associate of Arts & Science with Direct Transfer Agreement (AA&S-DTA) degree including Humanities, Breadth, Specified or General Electives

PhilosophyPhilosophy (PHIL)

  • Prepares students for careers as a post-secondary teacher, a minister, or to obtain a graduate degree in a profession such as law
  • Offers an intro philosophy course as well as courses in logic, ethics, the philosophy of religion, East Indian, and Asian philosophy
  • Multiple courses may be taken to satisfy various areas of the Associate of Arts & Science with Direct Transfer Agreement (AA&S-DTA) degree including Symbolic Quantitative Reasoning (SQR), Humanities, Breadth, Specified or General Electives

Physical EducationPhysical Education (PEH)

  • Prepares students for healthy lifestyles through a variety of wellness theory and activity courses including weight training, conditioning, yoga, team sports, Brazilian Jiu-Jistu and circuit training
  • Students interested in careers related to nutrition and dietetics, physical therapy or PE education should consult with their advisor to develop a transfer plan specific to their career goals 
  • Minimum of three (3) credits required for the Associate of Arts & Science with Direct Transfer Agreement (AA&S-DTA) degree (maximum of 5 credits)

Political SciencePolitical Science (POLS)

  • Prepares students for careers in government, post-secondary instruction and civic leadership
  • Students interested in earning a degree in Political Science will need to transfer to a university
  • Multiple courses may be taken to satisfy various requirements of the Associate of Arts & Science with Direct Transfer Agreement (AA&S-DTA) degree including Social Sciences, Breadth, Specified or General Electives

Psychology Psychology (PSYC)

  • Prepares student for careers in clinical counseling, chemical dependency counseling, law enforcement, behavioral research and graduate studies, and psychiatric medical care (psych-nurse)
  • Students interested in earning a degree in Psychology will need to transfer to a university
  • Multiple courses may be taken to satisfy various requirements of the Associate of Arts & Science with Direct Transfer Agreement (AA&S-DTA) degree including Social Sciences, Breadth, Specified or General Electives

Religious StudiesReligious Studies (RELS)

  • Student may select from World Religions or Religion in America to explore the history, practices and influences of religion societies
  • Students interested in earning a degree in Religious Studies will need to transfer to a university
  • May be taken to satisfy a requirement of the Associate of Arts & Science with Direct Transfer Agreement (AA&S-DTA) degree including Humanities, Breadth, Specified or General Elective

SociologySociology (SOC)

  • Prepares student for careers in graduate research or a broad range of social services ranging from careers in public (K-12) and higher education, and for careers that work with diverse or underrepresented populations
  • Students interested in earning a degree in Sociology will need to transfer to a university
  • Multiple courses may be taken to satisfy various requirements of the Associate of Arts & Science with Direct Transfer Agreement (AA&S-DTA) degree including Social Sciences, Breadth, Specified or General Electives
